Have a few questions

Well.. Need to know the milage.. on my 85 Ford Bronco.. EFI, 302.. Lifted 4 inches.. 35x12.50x15.. Automatic.. Everything else is stock ( except body parts .. replaced tail gate and pass door ) With the gas prices in Cali.. and me having to drive.. How bad is this going to hurt.. I might have the option to drive around a 87 Bronco .. Its a 6cyl.. ( Think its a straight 6 ) and its a 5 speed.. I think it has 32's under ? ... What can i expect with both of these vehicles.. I'm figuring around 9-12 ( around town ) on 85.. and 16 - 18 on 87... Is that about right? or should I just skip Bronco's.. and go to a small older Toyota truck? Thanks guys

This is a big topic seeing as gas prices are skyrocketing (think I'm using that term lightly? I remember it being $0.80/gal just a couple years ago...). I think that if you're worried about gas, you shouldn't have a bronco. And if you're worried about having a bronco, you shouldn't worry about gas.

When I got my bronco, I was worried about gas, I couldn't imagine that kind of mileage (I get about 10-12 city and 14-16 hwy in my 90 xlt with a 351w). But after I took the top off for a weekend, I was sold. When I go to college I'm going to move closer to the school instead of commute so I can keep the bronco. I'll save my pennies to get something more fuel effecient (been thinking maybe a bike... but I've wanted an old mini for a loooooonnnng time) later.
So if you're just worried about mileage, go get the toyota. If you want a great truck that is quite possibly the coolest road-trip vehicle since the wienermobile, go for the bronco.

My $0.02

where do you live that gas was .80 a gallon a couple of years ago? I know you must have been kidding. But back to the thread.I have a 91 w/351.I get 9-10 around town.11-13 highway.on the trail...who knows or cares.I have to agree if you have a bronco you don't own it for gas milage,if you are worried about gas prices, don't buy one as you wont be happy with mpg.a little import will get great mpg and you won't have to worry as much about the gas prices going up.,and trying to mod it to get 1 mpg or so better.ther's my .02 .( I live in Cali also)
good luck on your decision.

This hurts... When I started on my Bronco ( a year ago or so ) .. Gas wasn't that bad.. but now.. ( almost complete ) its to much.. I like the nice V8.. my nice big 35's... and knowing I can put it alot places in the hills... But being only 16.. no job.. It isn't going to work.. If my dad buys the 87.. I think I will drive it ( 6 with a stick ) .. If he doesn't.. Talk about selling my 85 for a more practical.. Well the Bronco is practical.. just gas isn't .. Thanks guys
