Lightbulb 4" or 6" Lift?!?!?

4" or 6"??? I wanna run either but want it to be practical and not lose to much power. What size tires are ideal for each lift??? Let me know what you know.

What year is your truck? That I think has an effect on tire size. My truck is a 97' and I am running the equivelant of a 4" system (ORU reverse shackle kit good for 2 3/4" with a 1 1/2 spring re-arch and 2 1/2" in the rear) I am rolling on 35 BFG mud t/a and I think they fill the wheel wells nicely without looking stuffed, gives it the appearance that it can actually go offroad without making contact with sheetmetal. Yet to have the tires rub anything when I'm out on the beach.

Not sure but you might get away with 38's under a 6" lift, might be tight. But then you will also need to regear your axles, and that's pricey. With that said I would go with 4" and 35's. Goodluck

I got a 01 PSD and really like the 6". But I don't want to lose a whole lot of torque/power if I ran either 36 or 37 inch tires.... I am afraid that I'll have to mess with the rear end to straighten ***** out. Let me know if you have either lifts....

I really like the 6" but I found a used Procomp 4" setup for $350. Can't beat that price. Any arguments on that??? If I do go 6" what is the best tire setup out there, with minimal damage to horsepower/torque??? Thanks, Chuck

"I got a 01 PSD and really like the 6"."

"I think I want to go with the 6" "

"I really like the 6""

Looking at 3 of your 4 posts on this thread, I think your mind is made up.
If the 4" Procomp isn't what you want it doesn't matter how good a deal it is. If you really would be satisfied with the 4" I'd say get it. A coworker has one and he likes it.
You may find some galleries that have pictures of a similar setup. Always easier to visualize it when you see it.
Either way good luck, but make sure you do what you really want. Too much P.I.A. to do it twice.

Almost all parking decks were a problem for me when my truck was stock, so the added 4" wasn't a parking concern. I did notice a slight difference with my truck switching from a 33" tire to a 35". I would tend to believe that a 36" or larger would be more pronounced. And I do agree seems like your mind is madeup.

Yeah I know, I am going to talk to the guy with the Procomp. I don't have enough $ to go for the 6 and bigger tires. Being a E-3 in the Air Force your cut to a small budget Thanks for everything.
