Have a 2002 EXPLORER XLS (18K). In the last two weeks, this happened three times. Truck was parked with gear shift lever in P. When I turned the ignition switch on, the truck jumped or bucked about an inch or two forward. Everything else is OK! Any ideas out there?
I had a slightly similar problem, my '03 would buck when you put it in gear after being parked for over 24 hours.
My dealer had to reprogram the computer and the problem went away, but it was a known Ford issue (I've since learned that until Ford puts it in writing, the problems are just apparently figments of the owner's imagination, at least according to my service dept)
My '02 Taurus does the same thing: start the car after it has sat overnight, and it rolls forward about 1 inch while still in park. Our service department says it's nothing to worry about.
