Ford Engineer Coming To See My Truck

The dealership called Ford and requested an engineer to come and checkout my truck, I don't know when he will be here yet. Here is my problem. I have a vibration between 58-63 that resonates through the floor board, console and steering wheel. It is more noticable on a smooth road, and the pulsating vibrations are faster when the truck is not in overdrive. Hope they get it lined out.

No, they did a vibration analyzing test, replaced two tires, and checked driveshaft for run out. They have not replaced any driveline components yet.

I have been in contact with an engineer from KC. He thinks it is a driveshaft problem, but the dealer thinks it is a pinion ring. I am picking it up today. I will let you know.

Just got my Screw 4 x2 back and my vibe is gone. They replaced the Ring and Pinion inside the rear-end or "hoghead" The service tech said the prelaod and backlash were "set incorrect" It seems like a totally different truck.

I was able to get in touch with an engineer at the Ford plant. His thouhgt on the vibe was it was due to a bad drive shaft. On certain models they have gone from a one piece to a two piece. My service manager says that is not the reason at all, and have now sucessfully treated 3 trucks, including mine with the ring and pinion replacement.

I think I might go back to the dealer who put that "jerry rig" damper kit on and said my truck was normal and give them a yard job.

My dealer won't let me bring the truck back for any more vibration problems. They say Ford says it is normal and won't pay for any more repairs. I'm tempted to pay for the drive shaft and/or the ring and pinion as it would probably be cheaper than the beating I will take if I trade it for something else. I'm going to talk with another dealer first just to see if they will at least look at it.

The first dealer I took it to would not do anything else either. I then went back to my purchasing dealer. My purchasing dealer could not do anything that the 1st one did, as they had already billed Ford. In your case another dealer may be able to do something else. I called Ford Customer Relationship Center and they called both dealers to help me out. The number is 800-392-3673. Good luck.

bigplayrayr, can you describe the vibration you had? Mine is a pulsating thump like vibe. I can't wait until this is fixed. I am glad it only does it between 58-63 mph.

I could feel a slight vibration above 20 mph, but mine was worse from 40-60. I could feel it in the steering wheel and throught the seats and the center console.

I talked to another dealer and they are going to look at the truck. They are going to look at the driveshaft and rear end to see if they are in spec. They are going to machine the rotors for the shimmy problem while braking too.
