water in fuel, dash light on after only 600 miles

This is my first deisel, so I have nothing to compare it to.
I just today turned over 600 miles on my brand new 2002 250 PSD, and on the way home today, the water in fuel light came on. How often does the bowl fill up ? Could I have gotten some bad gas?

Should I be concerned at all ?

Yes you need to be concerned!

yes you got some bad fuel! I will hope you didn't put gas in it?

break out the manual on your enging and follow the steps for removing the water. might want to replace the fuel filter while your at it.

if you did get a tank full of water, you might need to drain the bowl out on the road. If you can, do this in a warm dry area first.
that way when it's 35* and rain it won't take too long out on the road.

If the big rigs fill up there, the price will be lower.
and the fuel turn-over will be high enough that the water content will also be lower.

some bad luck starting out, thats all.
Between my father and I. over 150,000 miles on our diesels in the past few years and never had the H2O light come on yet. (Yet) as I knock on a simulated wood like substance I call a desk.

it's only the second tank i ever put in the truck ,and as a matter of fact i did get at a truck stop. actually, the high voume pump was kind of a pain in the rear, i had to hold the nozzle out of the fill neck a little bit. if i let it go in all the way it would pop off.... The speed sure was nice though.

i'll drain it first thing in the am. If it does comes back on again, is there any thing I should do ? or just keep emptying the bowl until i finish off this tank?

It has been my experiance that not only getting your fuel at a place that sells alot of diesel fuel but also get a QUALITY diesel fuel.
I have been to some of the "cheap" gas stations and after i fill up I always seem to get water in my gas.I personally try to use nothing but Amoco diesel. I have not had any problems with using their diesel at my local gas station.
