Turbo charger?

Do any of you know of turbo kits for 302-351 trucks? I'd prefer a turbo charger over a super charger if I have a choice in the matter. I love the whining noise they make plus they're more efficient than superchargers.

they do but they are for mustangs, they would work the same though. but i have one that you could make a junkyard turbo system if you wanna buy it. go to turbomustangs.com and they have a junkyard turbo forum.

The mustang kits will work fine... you might have to move the battery to the other side in some cases.

But pickup is nothing more than a rectangular shaped mustang

but there is one difference in the pistons that i forgot, the mustang HO has forged pistons and the truck does not, you may not wanna run too much boost on the stock pistons

not talking about spark knock and detonation, forged pistons handle a lot more power and boost than hypers and cast pistons which means you can up the boost more. you don't wanna blow a big holes in a few of the pistons do ya. but all you have to do is set the boost around 8-10 psi and that should do it for you, if you put an intercooler on it that really helps a lot with pinging and power

Sorry, I was being a wise-***.

Actually, most hyperteuric pistons are as strong as forged pistons, and don't radically change size or shape as they get hot. However because they are a little more brittle, they dislike detonation. I've used them before in forced induction motors just fine, but one has to pay real close attention to detonation and hot spots.

And I agree about the intercooler, which is why my project will use a shiny new powerstroke intercooler.

Though, I know a guy that runs a Buick GN with crazy boost (6:1 c/r) without an intercooler and it runs really, really well. There is always going to be at least one exception to the norm. Like my personal like for hypertuerics in boosted engines. But before I "got it", I did blow quite a few holes through h'tuerics while learning. Can't deny that fact.

Now that you bring up piston types I have a question. I'm looking at this overhaul kit in a Jeg's catalog which basicly converts a 302 into a 347 stroker. It comes with Hypereutectic Keith Black pistons. Can these Keith Blacks take a beating compared to the 5.0 HO forged pistons?
