Anybody know the best place to get new front and rear 4.10 gears for my 1992 F150 4X4? Also, is the truck 8.8 axle internally the same as a car (Mustang) 8.8? Is the front axle an 8.8 too?
The front axle is a reverse cut dana 44 TTB (twin traction beam) I believe it is the same as your mustang but different gears in it and a little narrower if I am not mistaken.
I looked under my truck a little bit ago- the rearend is DEFINITELY an 8.8. The front axle might be a Dana 44 (it has a "44" molded in the side of it) if I'm not mistaken. Can I use the same gears from my Mustang in the truck 8.8 rearend?
The gears will fit on either 28-spline or 31-spline carrier. The part number are the same for passenger cars (Mustang, Crown Vic etc...) and trucks. (Ranger & Explorer w/4.0L and F150, Expedition) The front is a D44 with an 8.5" ring gear.

Thank you very much- if I DON'T build a 347 for my truck I'm going to stay with a 302, so I'll need to get rid of the 3.55s that are currently in my truck. Ever since I lifted it and put 32s on it it BARELY pulls my Mustang and trailer, and I even put 3" exhaust and Mustang underdrive pulleys on it. Without those mods it might not pull my car AT ALL.
