Unhappy Buyer's Remorse

If anyone out there has an F-150 brochure, please turn to the very middle (it's the second page of the XLT). Is the interior depicted really the Medium Flint/Dark Flint two-tone, (as the lable says) or is it the Dark Flint? The reason I ask is I picked-up my truck today (YAY!) that I ordered. I ordered the two-tone, expecting an interior like this, and got something much lighter. I took delivery thinking perhaps I had remembered incorrectly what it looked like. Not until this evening when I looked at the brochure again did I start to get the feeling I shouldn't have taken delivery.

Will it be possible to get them to change out the seats? Or am I just going to have to live with it. I feel ill having spent this much and not have the truck I wanted. But what I ordered is what I got, at least according to the window sticker.

Thanks.

Jeff

What's the 2-digit trim code number on your data plate (sticker inside your door jamb area)? Tell me that and I can tell you what interior you have.

The picture in the brochure is the Medium Flint/Dark Flint two-tone premium. My XLT has this interior and it's pretty close to what the brochure looks like. That's probably what you have, but it'll look different in real light. I'm not convinced it goes with my Wedgewood Blue Matallic/Silver though....but it's growing on me.

AAAaaahhhh!!!! Now I underestand. I'll see what I can do, but it may be tough today. I'm sure the pictures would be better with some natural light, but that's going to be tough to come by today with as much rain as we're getting.

Thanks.

I see your dilemma, and this is a confusing issue. It's my belief that Ford has screwed up. The photo you're referring to shows the Dark Flint interior AS FORD IS BUILDING IT AND SHIPPING TO DEALERS. They may call it "two-tone" in the caption, but that's the Dark Flint interior. The Medium/ Dark two-tone is actually the lighter interior, which doesn't look two-tone to me at all. What I've been doing with customers who are ordering is this: I have them look at both interiors, and then I have them tell me which one they want. I then take the trim code off the data plate, and we BOTH agree that's what we'll use to order their vehicle.
You need to take this up with your dealer and have them go after Ford. Calling customer service is most likely a waste of time. As far as I'm concerned, Ford has the trim codes reversed. You do realize that this is going to take some time, and actually getting someone at Ford to admit their mistake will be nearly impossible. Stop and think about how many interiors they'll have to replace if they fess up to this. Good luck.

MarkII,

Thanks for the reply. I'm just curious. Is the carpet with both the dark flint and the so-called two-tone the same color? The carpet color seems fine, but the seats are lighter than I really wanted. I have high hopes b/c my salesman seems like he'd bend over backward to make sure he has a happy customer. Of course, now that he has money in hand, we'll see what his true colors are. Sorry to sound so cynical, but where I work we have a little saying. 'The key to this job in sincerity. Once you can fake that, you've got it made.' I'll keep you posted.

I've heard that quote a few times, too!!

The only carpet color, besides parchment, is Medium Dark Flint, so it's the same no matter what seats you get in a "gray" XLT interior. Again, best of luck with this.

Thanks, and GOOD! I didn't want them to say no b/c a seat change would require a carpet change. This way it only requires a seat change.
