I own a 2003 Explorer in Black Clear coat- unfortunately there are a lot of rats with wings (seagulls and pigeons) that congregate around my office. I get the occasional blessing (pooped on) and it seems that it has been damaging my paint. When I washed my car last night I noticed that there were distinctive marks from the poop after I dried the truck. I used a Clean/Wax and it seems to have lightened it a bit but I can still see an outline- can anyone suggest something or it this an inferior paint job??
I do some side detailing and I just fixed some bird poop issues on my truck.
If you are unsure...let a pro do this for you. That said...
1. Take some 2000 grit Meguiars sand paper and wet it down (Soak paper for 15-20 min) then do a couple quick strokes. Check your work after 5-6 LIGHT strokes. Feel it with your finger. If you can' t feel where the poop was, STOP.
2. Take Rotary buffer and set to 1. Take some Megs #83 and apply, letting the product break down. Take a DA polisher and re-apply the #83 until smooth. Switch pads on polisher and use #82. Go all the way up to #80 for a pure polish. Then wax.
If that sounds like a lot of work, it's because it is. But not much. I can do it in about 15 min. Like I said, let a pro do it if you are unsure.
