Should I Buy The 7.3L Diesel?
Hello Everyone, I could use some help. I'm ready to purchase a new Ford Truck and loved the Diesel when I test drove one, but I wonder if I should go with it due to the problems that I have read here and on some of the other sites. I wouldn't want to spend the extra money if they are giving people problems. Are they reliable or not? Thanks for your opinions.

Of course they are reliable. These and many other sites are typically places to go when there just happens to be a problem. They are places to find help. There are many users here that love and stand by them 100%. As with anything else, they are not without challenges. That's one of the reasons why these sites are here.

Should I Buy The 7.3L Diesel?
I got the diesel and I love it. sure I only put on less than 7500 a year on mine. but when I plow with it I don't burn as much fuel as those gasers. and the power over the gas engine too is great. I hate to say this but if I got a gas it would have been a chevy. sorry to the ford gas lovers. the 5.4 does have guts I'll give it that. and the V10 well from other experiances they do like gas. gas is a V10's best friend.

>Research your dealer. There are FAR more problems with Ford
>dealers than there will ever be with Ford trucks.
>Service is everything. Bad service rep: Bad Dealer!

>Go get one and enjoy, worry about problems only after they
>arrive.
Lashlaroo, Thanks for your advice. It has been a couple of years now, but I was having a problem with my old Ford and had taken it to a couple of "Best In Area" Ford guys. After a couple of trips to them with bad results, I tried my Ford Dealer. They fixed it the first day with a quote after the initial analysis. I was trying to save repair costs by avoiding the dealer's flat rate but it only ended up costing more. Lesson Learned.:+

Wolfmanagh, Glad to hear that you are happy with your Diesel verses Gas deceision. It makes me feel more confident about the extra cost for the engine when I hear reports like these.
Thanks

Should I Buy The 7.3L Diesel?
Thanks to everyone that replied with their input. I decided to go for the diesel engine and am now the proud owner of a new 2002 FORD that I purchased about a week ago. If this new truck is still running strong at 200,000 miles, then I will feel like I made the right choice. I will take care of her just like I have my ole' trusty "87 Ford with a inline six which has 174,000 miles now. Thanks Again!!!
