Thumbs up Anyone pull a tractor/truck pull sled W/5.4? I just did!

2001 F250 CC LB 4X4 5.4L W/35" all terrain Pro-Comps, 4" Pro-Comp lift & 4.56 gears.
I went to a local tractor/truck pull (Poplarville MS) and wound up entering in the 4x4 stock class. My truck weighed in, front axel 3521 lbs. and rear axel 2706 lbs. with me and 5 kids. Used low 4x4 and low drive, pulled the sled 266'.5" for Second Place. (TOTAL skid 45,000 lbs. and couldn't tell me how many lbs. stopped my SD.) First Place was a F350 4x4 CC LB Diesel? with total bully package and propane injection. I beat out Third Place by 5'5", which was a F350 4x4 CC SB Diesel? Dually with 32's. Second Place prize money was a grand total of $23!!!!minus $12 gate fee and $7 pull fee. Made a whole $3 minus gas!

I didn't do it right away! I had a LARGE fear of breaking somethind too. But I fell to peer pressure from my kids (Not all 5 are mine) when we saw a stock dodge 4X4 diesel pull the sled. It was on then. Only saw one drive shaft go BIG TIME on an old ford "built" 460 with 44" SS boggers. This "PULL" was kind-a back yard/redneck style. There was only 3 Mod tractors, 1 stock tractor W/8 wheels, 3 Mod trucks, & about 6 trucks in the 4X4 stock (off the street) class.
At the end of my pull my leg wouldn't stop shaking. IT WAS A RUSH.

Hey RIS yeah these pickup pull s get in your blood. Never pulled myself. But once people do they have to do it again. 100 mles from me pickup pulling is huge sport. At this one county fair they devote a whole night to it. At the last one they had over 35 pickups just off the street pull. Its awesome. Mostly diesel dodge ford and chevy. The power them pickups crank is just amazing Nitrous, propane, chips you name it its done. I bet people are aghast you have just a 5.4 there.

Did you use street tire pressure?

I'm going to do it someday. They have a very active pull site about 30 miles from me. Mostly antique tractors.

I figured I'd use 4 low. I have some exterains, they've been bead sealed. So Ifigured I might go to 8-10 psi.

My normal offroad psi is 12-14 psi.

Check my signature for my other doodads.

Didn't have it in me to lower tire PSI. Talked about it with one of my buds but didn't do it because of fear of breaking something.I even kept the Auto Trans in low so it wouldn't shift and break something(I have over 130,000 miles on this stock 5.4L). However I didn't let it off the floor until it was at a dead stop and dug 4 holes in the track. If you would have told me I would have out pulled the 2 F350 Diesel 4X4 duallies I would have said your nuts. That alone made my day!

Hey RIS What did everybody else say about your pull. I bet the pullers couldnt believe what they seen. Are you going to do any more pulling with your truck? I bet you cant wait until the next pull.

Now you can explain the difference between HP and Torque when people ask. Good job.

I don't think I'll be doing it any time soon. This was the first PULL I've ever been to and the first for the place that put it on.
I don't see it getting any better than it was for me. I do see some other trucks getting better because they were a little up-set that I (5.4L) beat them. One of the F350 owners has a 4X4 shop in Picayune, MS.
