well my truck has never leaked a drop of oil, at least not
on the ground, until today. It has leaked some around the
valve covers and in that area, but it quit. Today I saw a
little spot under where I park. Then I saw where it leaked
out the rear main I geuss, it had oil on the side of the oil
pan (facing towards the rear of truck). Just ****es me off
Don't jump to that conclusion. There are several trouble areas on top of the engine as far as oil leaks. If it leaks out into the valley on top of the engine, it will eventually run out of the hole at the back side of the engine, run down to the bell housing and look just like a rear main leak. Look on top of the engine in the valley and see if there is oil standing there.....
Could be a pedestal or turbo "O" ring leak, HPOP oil leak or valve cover leak.
There is a hole at the left side of the engine valley that lets fluid drain from the valley atop the tranny, down to the inspection cover, etc, as stated above.
I had the same problem on my 94.5 F250 my truck has a 5 speed manual tranny and the problem was the dust cover on the bottom of the bell housing had worked the bolts loose and was vibrating on the back of the oil pan and wore a small hole on the back of the pan under the rear main. A little JB Weld fixed it no problem and I just left the dust cover off. But I couldn't tell that was the problem until the I had pulled the tranny out of the truck.
