I don't know Eric, how can I get a hold of him ?
Also, does anyone know why that after truck gets up to running temp, it floods itself out.
I just replaced the carb with a rebuilt from advanced auto and when I try to restart, its like its vapor locked and gas just runs into the carb and seeps out onto manifold.
When it vapor lock's you have little to no fuel, vapor lock is when the fuel is boiled in the lines to a vapor.
I presume you installed a new fuel filter? Did you do that B4 you started the truck with the new carb? Flooding is caused by the needle and seat being stuck in the open position.
How is the gas seeping out between the carb and manifold? Only way for that to happen is the wrong carb gasket
thanks for reply the gasket that came w/rebuilt carb matched the 1 that came off we tried to rebuild old 1 and gas was running in carb &seeping out of every where thats why i just ordered 1 but still doing it only when up to temp. i do not recall where kickdown rod was set does not look right to me its set kind of back. i tried to pull forward but seems like where it goes would you know where i could see pics of org. motor w/aircleaner off i have chilton, haynes&a few other book but none show a clear pic. or diagram any help appreshated
Um, do you have the steel EGR spacer? Or a phenolic spacer? Or are you trying to attach the carb directly to the manifold? Is it the original manifold?
If it's the original manifold, then exhaust is blowing up through the EGR port in the manifold directly into the carb.
If you've got the spacer, then gas really should seep out, unless the carb is seriously messed up. The kickdown rod doesn't matter unless the vehicle is in drive.
it is a steel egr spacer. its the original manifold. then i got the truck it still had the catalytic converter on it. i cut it off & ran new pipe. after putting new carb on when we started it the 2nd or 3rd time it backfired do you think i might have did something to the carb. a new carb should take a backfire? it stiil after getting to op temp just dumping gas down the carb &leaking out around gasket thanks for reply & links
