egr valve

i have a 99 ranger with a 3.0 and my computer has a code p0401 does this mean i have a bad egr valve or is it any other problems if so what. thanks.

The most common cause of a 401 is the DPFE sensor, its the thing on the front of the intake, one electical and two hoses. Check out the links in the tech info thread at the top of the forum.
