1973 f100 brake job

engine: 400 (from a 77)
trans: C6
Brakes: rotors (front) drums (rear)

Anyway I'm getting ready to do pads and rotors, after that a drum rebuild. but im wondering about wheel bearings, am I going to have to pull them to replace the rotors or do I not need to disassemble the hub to replace rotors ? might be a dumb question as I'm asking before I even take the wheels off but I cant really afford to have this thing out of commission for very long. just wanted to get an idea of what I'm getting into. thanks for replies in advance. keep them old fords runnin !

Yes change bearings in rotors as its been awhile but old school rotors have the bearing inside of them and the races for bearings have to be driven out as well as the seals so if your replacing rotors get the bearings an seals
is it 4wd or 2wd ?

Your new rotors will likely have the races already pressed in, if they don't, get some that do. I'm sure there isn't a ton of difference in bearings, but I went with Timken. Be sure to pack them well with new grease and keep any debris off of it.

is 4wd, is it illogical to repack the bearings or is it better to wait and get new ones?

Wheel bearings are cheap. You already have everything apart so I say put new ones in.

Unless there fairly new I would replace , as the hub being part of the rotor , you would have to remove the races and at least an buy new seals and repack the bearings , sure it can be done as I have done it when I was young and stretching every dollar raising kids ,,and as pointed out some rotors will come with the races although I have not had any come with races but that doesn't mean there not out there , guess its up to what you want to , if I could afford it I would just install new
