Propane injection??

I was thinking about adding propane to my 99 PSD. Has anyone installed this and how do you like it?? I already have a 70hp superchip in it. I pull a 32 Ft. flatbed gooesneck trailer the most i put on it is about 18,000 lbs to 20,000 lbs somehere in the range but i don't pull it very far anywhere up to 50 miles. But i do haul alot of stuff that weights anywhere from 6,000 lbs to 15,000 lbs. I would like to get some better fuel milege out of it too. Will propane hurt my engine pulling those loads??

Propane injection??

Our reliability people recently got an engine back that still had the propane fitting in the intake cross over that had 1 broken connecting rod and 7 bent connecting rods. Don't expect your warranty to be honored unless your are good friends with the district service rep.

Propane injection??

My son in law just got his 2000 PSD back after "blowing up" the engine using propane. He didn't go into a lot of detail as to what exactly happened to the motor (didn't want to talk about it I guess)but they did have to replace the motor. I know he was racing the truck at the time and he said he had too much propane on it.

Propane injection??

A. do the chip, be happy.

B. Go with a Banks Turbo upgrade.

C. Learn from other folks screwing with thier engines and don't screw with your engine, it's expensive.

Propane injection??

My understanding of the effect of propane is that "a little is a good thing." It supposedly improves combustion efficiency, so it will help improve mpg slightly and improve power output. The problem with it, is most people that use it find it addictive, and can't stop turning it up. The old adage: If a little is good, then a lot should be better, and too much should be about right comes into play. Eventually you seem to mess with it just long enough to do some serious damage. I'm going to force myself to avoid it, like I avoid cocaine. I've got an addictive personality anyway, and I don't need any more vices.
Just my $.02.

I agree with you quadzilla if i don't give it too much then i think i will be alright. I already have the hot side of the turbo and the wastegate from banks.

Propane injection??

Sounds like Scott's truck. The system he uses (and the one I use) is a safer variable oriface than most of the home built staged or fixed oriface systems. Propane is really quite safe and sane as long as you don't try to eek out enery available hp. Just use it to compliment your diesel fuel and don't try to run on propane and you will be OK.

95 F350 - we'll just say modified...
