Have you removed the door panels yet to see what your up against? A few screws and pull the plastic plugs out. That will tell you alot. off and on in about 5 minutes
yup thats them Should be three that hole the motor in. drill them out and when you replace the motor run the bolts from the inside (of the door) out. I use nylon lock nuts.
I think Ford installed the motors before they installed the door skins. The interior sheet metal is dimpled where you will need to drill access holes. I have a document that details the process if you want it. It's probably not the motors, it's the nylon drive gears. I've heard of them being fixed with everything from wood dowels to nylon spacer sleeves to nylon toilet seat bolts to .......fishing sinkers.!!!???? what the.........?
first the plastic bushings are bad in your motors simple to replace they are about 3/8 of and inch in diameter and about 1/2 inch thick drill the 3 dimples big enough to get a nut driver in there (use a magnetic nut driver) remove the plug that connects the wires and then remove the motor after it is out remove the 3 phillips head screws which expose the gears inside and you will see where the plastic bushing go between the weird shaped gear install the bushings replace the cover and re-install the motor they will work fine i had the same problem 2 years ago and replaced all the bushings and havent had a problem since good luck
I guess I should've updated. I did get the windows fixed. Got the door motors with repair kits, and got the tailgate with fishing sinkers (pounded down to fit the space properly).
Thanks though! That's a good thourough post, plausibly a help to someone else...
