Skyjacker makes a 2in lift for the explorer that will get rid of the rubbing. I put it on mine. It was only $180 with shiping. With the right tires it will really make your explorer look good.
Crazyfoolreal, you don't have to make any modifications to fit 31x10,5R15 tires (the closest metric size is 265/75R15). You may even put wider tires with lower profile height (i.e. 275/65R15), or taller and narrower (as 32x9,5R15) but I advise to avoid it.
Also, you should be aware that larger tires cause poor fuel economy, worse acceleration, and make handling pretty strange.
Chris, you're talking about so-called body-lift kit, which is a kit to put body slightly over the frame. These could be useful only if you need to put larger tires (i.e. 33x12,5R15) but is a little use for real off-roading as ground clearance remains almost intact and increases only by using larger tires. Also, this should make car hadling much worse as center of gravity shifts higher (but this is true for any type of lift).
Just wanted to warn others that lifting the car has its disadvantages.
Jet Lizard: I believe he is talking about the 2" suspension lift put out by skyjacker (part# EXK 132). It includes lift springs for the front and add-a-leaf for the rear. I have it on mine as well, I had to so the 31X10.5 Revo's would fit with no rubbing.
As for gear ratio, I am running 3:73 and did not find any difference with the larger tires.

It is not a body lift. As bashman said it is a suspension lift.

Actually, it made my explorer handle a little bit better. because of the stiffer springs the body does not want to roll as much. Even with bigger tires it just as good if not better than stock. It is a slightly stiffer ride, but not too harsh.
There has been one down side to this lift. Since I put it on myself, all my friends want lifts, and then want me to help put it on. I would not mind, if fact i actually would like the chalange, but the lifts are way out of my league. One person wanted me to put a 4in suspension lift on their 1999 chevy 1500 4X4 truck.
Oh and if anyone decides to put a skjacker lift on their explorer, please do be careful when removing the old coil springs. They can pop out and break your nose, trust me been there, done that, got the x-ray(see aviatr).
