Flathead I6 226 to Flathead V8 239 Swap
I just purchased a Flathead V8 239 to replace the Flathead I6 226 in my 1951 F1. Aside from wiring and a radiator, I have a few questions.
1. Will the V8 bolt right up to the original transmission?
2. I assume I need new motor mounts, but do I need to modify anything on the frame?
3. Anything else to consider?
Thanks.

The battery and starter solenoid are on the passenger side on an eight, driver side for a six. You'll need a different battery holder. The radiator sits closer to the firewall on the eight which means you have to change the air deflector on the hood, that also sits farther back and is wider than the six. You'll also have to move the radiator bracket back to the second set of holes in the inner fenders. The radiator is also different, the eight has two in and two out, the six only one of each. The throttle linkage is narrower than the six because the eight carburater sits in the middle top of the engine while the six's is lower on the passenger side of the engine.
As far I know the motor mounts are the same.
I not sure as to if the eight will bolt up to the six's transmission.

Is this ture or not? If it is now I know that the engine on my '53 Ford is not the right engine in there now.
Thanks for the 411,

The battery location changed to under the passenger floorboard in '53. Prior to that it was in the engine compartment.
