Bronco 302 build in moderation

I want some more punch out of my 96 Bronco, 302. It has a MAS on it, so some companies limit options. I'm not looking to pour alot of money into it. I'd say around 1,500 tops. It has 140,000 on it. I also do not have the tools or experince to do any heavy engine work. I can do the easy stuff, and probably the heads allright. I'm thinking maybe a package: full exhaust system, throttle bottle, intake manifold and heads would be sufficent. I would be pleased with a solid 250 horses, and more importantly a heavy increase in torque. It's rated stock at 275, maybe the 325-350 range would be good. 350 would be a good number, that would grunt. Anyhow, basically I'm looking at a good combo of mods under 1,500. A cam isn't out of the question, but would require the labor cost. I'm am sure someone in here has some good ideas. Anyone think I can hit 350 tq. with 1500? Thanks fellas.

well edelbrock has a power package for efi truck engines, comes with heads, intake manifolds (upper and lower), timing chain, but i dont think they make the throttle bodies anymore i know bbk makes good ones for your truck. jegs.com has all the parts but just those would be about 1500 all together, youd probably would want to start with an exhaust, i have jba headers and gibson exhaust with a bassani y-pipe and a high flow cat all that was about 600 +60 to get everything welded (i got the y-pipe for free). the more air you bring in you need a smoother flow out so go with an exhaust first. this is just my opinon so do what you want, hope this helps

I would start with the exhaust. Headers, high flow cats, etc. and a home made cold air intake like the one here-

What kind of numbers would I get from headers, Y-pipe, high flow cats and cat-back, and a good intake?

Headers, exhaust and a intake wont get you where you want to be, but its a great start, go with the Edelbrock truck intake. After you get all that done, save up for a set of alum. Edebrock RPMs or AFR heads, along with a cam change you should be easily where you want ot be then, probably more. When you do the heads and cam would be a good time to do the throttle body, and by the way the BBK is the same TB as the Edelbrock was, BBK made them for Edelbrock.

Have you checked up on the internal condition of your engine? 140K is alot of miles to start beefing things up is the problem...
