WHAT'S NEXT???

Where are we going here?? A diesel displacing 250 cubic inches developing 500 horsepower at 5,000 rpm, and scads of torque at 4,000 rpm?? What happened to the two big advantages of diesel engines?? Big displacement engines making lots of horsepower and torque at low rpms with low fuel consumption?? And, i may add a low wear index that adds up to long engine life..

Higher rpms and more moving parts equal more wear.. I think that's indisputable..

The new Ford engine still has low RPM torque. The horsepower number is achieved at higher RPM's, but I think it was just put out there to be a best in class number. I don't advocate higher RPM's either. The new 6.0 is supposed to have better fuel economy than the 7.3.
