Unhappy Gas gage moves to full really slow

On my '03 350 V10. When I fill up my tank the gage takes forever to read full. Like 40 miles. The dealer "reset" something. It worked for a while but now it's back. Also it doesn't happen all the time. Anyone have a similar problem?
P.S. no I don't leave the key on when I fill up.

if i shut off when i get fuel, the gauge goes right up to full when i start it up, if i leave it running, it takes a short while, but not that long to go up.

Mine does the same thing. But not very often so I have not looked into it much.

My truck was taking close to 3 hours to register a tank. Took it in to the dealer (afterall it was only a month old at the time), and they told me the fuel sensor inside the tank was "burned out." They changed the sensor, and I haven't had a problem since.

same here, Sensor took forever to read full on the diesel tank, they replaced the sensor. There is a TSB or a customer satisfaction program going on for them. That's what my dealer told me...

Same here. Takes forever to register full. I figured it was just a surge buffer Ford put in to stop gauge movement due to slushing.

Thanks for the info. I'll ask my dealer about the sender. The last time I asked they didn't know what they were going to do about it. They gave me the typical dealer response "bring it in and we'll take a look at it".

My gage does the same if I shut it off it goes right to full however if I leave truck running it takes a while to rise up to full. Otherwise has not been a problem I just thought it was my truck

The gauges are electronic, its perfectly normal for it to take awhile if yu fill up with your truck on. When you turn it off and on it resets the gauge. Because you are SUPPOSED to have your truck off when you fill it up.

connect... understand that...
but this is the first vehicle I've ever had that had an issue with the overhead fuelage calculation and fuel gauge like that !!

And I don;t want to list all the vehicles I've had... will take up too much space and nail down how old I am at the same time :-)

Connect that must be it!!! I could not figure that out. I only had the problem once & now that you mention it, I turned the truck off then turned the key back to the on position but it wasn't started, so I could read the milage. I was keeping track of fuel milage. Every time before & after that one time, I've always wrote the milage down after I fill it up, so it's shut off the whole time. Now this make sence. Thanks fo the tip.
