Maybe someone can answer this for me?
I just pulled the engine out of my truck today, after I got the engine out, In removing the pressure plate and clutch disk, and noticed that 3 of the 5 springs in the clutch disk were gone, and the center of the disk was all but blown out.
I was picking springs out of all the nooks and cranys on the back of the block.
aperently this isn't the first time this has happend with this truck, I ended up finding more springs then what was missing out of the clutch disk, the springs in the pressure plate were all fine.
now this might be a dumb question, but what causes these clutch disks to fall apart like that?, also, is there some heavyer duty clutch disk I can put in there that isn't going to come apart?
I'm not a hot rodder, and I don't drive the truck hard at all, actully I pretty much baby the thing, never pop the clutch, or lug it down.
that's not to say the last owner babied the truck, for all I know, they coulda driven the crud out of it.
I'd just like to find a clutch disk that isn't going to fall apart.
thanks for your help
Stu
