mine has a few quirky sounds, but nothing a normal engine does not, actually it is quiter than a typical motor. as far as vibrates, the only time I noticed any not so typical vibration was the day after I put her on the track, which also happened to be the day I drove it from H-town to Dallas doing 95 the whole way....only time I noticed any vibes, may have been due to the 'learning curve' our trucks have and it was used to being hit hard frm the night before, it calmed down and returned to normal the next day. and still is, no noticable vibes
The February 2000 Consumer Guide states about the 4.2 V6: "The noisy base V6 provides only adequate acceleration." My current truck has the 240 I6. I've never driven or ridden in a truck with the 4.2. Therefore, I asked the question, because I don't believe everything I read. By the way, that same Consumer Guide issue says the following about the Chevy 4.3 V6: "The V6 engine struggles under a heavy load or up long grades, but it's a smooth runner, as are the V8s.
97/98 4.2s wehre bad motors as for weak in acceleration, why is it that my stock truck can beat any otehr stock Ford pickup (excpet the lightning and harley) that ford has made since 97? excluding diesels of course. :P
I am a new Member but as I stated before, I drive the heck out of mine with several trips to Houston from Dallas under my belt. Mine just purrs like a kitty.
Hey, Jimmy Dean. I bet you were only going 95 miles an hour becuase of that darned governer. Anyone know how to take that off?
mine is a bit noisy like that lil click click click thing from the oil pump spring but other than that its a great truck....and mine will do 100mph before it governs...weird??!!
