I need a place to hook up a tach lead?

Just purchased a remote starter for my 99 PSD and it works fine, for about 10 seconds anyway until it shuts off! According to the company's website I have the tach wire hooked at the wrong place on the coil. I hooked it to what I thought was the negative side and like I said the remote starter shuts off after 10 seconds. Any help to a reliable place to hook up my tach wire (needs to be a negative source) would sure be helpful. Thanks ahead of time!

Umm...last time I checked there wasn't a coil on the PSDs. Uhh, Now what'd I do with that wiring diagram. If someone doesn't beat me to it I'll post what I find.

I dont know bout the newer model trucks, but on the 49-97 rigs it's the White with pink wire coming from the PCM.

And yea, we aint got no stinkin coils.

I need a place to hook up a tach lead?

This is my first diesel and that is what I thought. On the left side of the fuel filter (passenger side) there appears to be 2 "coils". What throws me is there there are 4 posts on each "coil". Anyway I appreciate your help.

The Power Stroke diesel runs its tach off the cam position sensor (which wire, I don't know). If your tach is compatable for use with the PSD engine, the tach manufacturer should be able to tell you how to wire it.

One of the "coils" that your talking about is the relay for the glo plugs. I dont know how the newer models are set up so I cant say what the other is for. Maybe the starter relay? Although that should be mounted on the pass. side fender.
