I had the same problem and found the issue to be the connection at the top of the steering column it connects to the flasher switch. The wires in that connection become loose due to the movement of the column. Adjustable column.

Thanks HomerWinzlow, you were correct. The brake lights and autolock only worked for one day. Time to hunt down a new one. Thanks again!!!

Well the inspection was due, it was raining, and I was working too much to mess with cars... so the local Ford Dealer charged me $200 to trace down a short in my brake wire in the rear left quarterpanel... but now all three lights work... It's times like this that I really miss my 81 Bronco....

Lightbulb Now we're talking!

From the theme of "A picture is worth a thousand words" Take a look at this thread...

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=170121

I don't think I could have found the LOM without this...

While the LOM seems to be the likely suspect, I have yet to solve my "no brake lights except for high lamp" problem. Replaced the brake switch at the pedal, but that seems to be for all 3 brake lights. Now there is talk of a short in the LH qtr. panel, and another said their problem was near the hazard switch. Seems there is just no end to where things can go wrong!

This is getting old, but please, don't make me take it to the Ford House!

Jimmy
