Out of gas
Have about 1000 mi on truck and decided to run the tank down until the low fuel warning came on for information. Didn't get to gas station immediately and after a measly 25 miles my wife was bringing me gas on the side of the road. My superduty 5.4 l would go 50-60 miles after the low warning with a couple of gallons to spare. BTW mileage is not very good, less than 11 mpg. Superduty was a little of 12 mpg. Time will tell.

I thought I read in the owners manual that you had approx 50 miles to empty when the alarm comes on. I tried the same gas test yesterday. I went approx 50 miles after the alarm came in. I made it to a gas station and filled up. 27.9 gallons and 451 miles. 16.1 mpg. 5.4L Screw 4x4, 3.73 LS. Not to bad considering what others are getting. I'm not driving it hard and have 2500 miles. Hope to get better.

I don't have the truck yet, suppose to be manufactured April 12th.... but from what I read about the mpg.... It would depend on how you drive.... You don't need to floor it to get to that 60mph... take your time. Be gentle with the truck, you don't need to use all it's power all the time, just when you need it.
It's funny though, I own a VW Jetta TDI also, and I'm the only one out of 10 of my friends that can bring the car to over 1200 kms(750 miles) each tank fill. And doing that with the A/C on and doing around 115km/h (72mph). They seem to have trouble making 1000kms(625 miles). I explain to them the same thing, you do not have to gun it all the time.
Another one is, my boss owns a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Edition V8, he has trouble doing 450 to 480 kms per tank (281 to 300 miles), and when I borowed it for the weekend I made it easily to 650 kms (406 miles) and the gas light wasn't even close to being on.
So for all those people that can't do the 15 mpg or more, don't be so aggressive when your driving, just take your time to accelerate, don't gun it when you need to pass somebody, use cruise control as much as you can. And be patient in traffic, don't slam on the brakes, and then floor it to just slam on them again.
I'm not against anybody driving in these type of manners, but then please do not complain that you get lousy gas mileage.
