I want to get a PowerStroke but have a few Questions.

I would like to buy a early Powerstroke but was wondering if thre is anything wrong with the early powerstrokes. Is there just some basic info that you could share with me. What should I watch out for, and what are some of the basic engine upgrades that a guy could do. I plan on using the truck as a daily driver and occasionally taking it to the truck pull and whomp all over the DuroMax's. Also can you get them in auto and manual? if so which is stronger? thanx

Cam position sensors, clutches and torque convertors are the weak spots. The 94 1/2 - 97's had a two piece flywheel that is a problem. The 99 and later trucks have clutch problems and torque convertor problems. These are the most noted problems and only affect SOME trucks.

i had a 94 (the first psd) i traded it this year with 500k on it. 4" lift and 35's were the only mods. had problems with the oil pan leaking, valve covers leaking, glow plugs, clutch and rear gears. i couldnt complain for all the miles.

watch out for the oil pan leak. the motor has to be removed to fix it.
the glow plugs arnt hard to fix, they are inside the valve covers.

they may not be new but they are good trucks!
