Post Needing advise!!

Allow me to begin with that I am a first time user, a first time FORD owener.

I just purchased a 1999 7.3L,F350 SD,Auto trans, dully, drinking 14-mpg one week ago. I love the truck so far; however, the auto transmission is a bit on the lazy side, there just isnt much get up and go.

All the power options are confusing me!!! There are so many options and upgrades to choose from.

The sole purpose of this truck is to pull a transport trailer with a minuimum of 16000lb GVWR. "strictly a work truck"

From reading your forum, I believe I will be purchasing a superchip micro tuner #1705 next month. I am also seriously considering an exhaust brake. Any recomendations would be greatly appreciated.

What would you recomend for an exhaust system or intake system if any? would you be so kind as to give me your advise on the best bang for the buck?

One last question will the Micro tunner make adjustments on the transmission also?

Many Thanks

Needing advise!!

Since you're going to be using the truck to tow, and are starting from scratch, here's the list of things to do. Stop when you run out of money.
1) Guages- pyrometer, tranny temp, and boost. You'll need these to keep an eye on what's going on, and to protect your investment.
2) Intake- my preference is a TYMAR, which will allow your engine to get more air, with less restriction than anything else available.
3) Exhaust- replace your downpipe with an aftermarket model, and increase the exhaust system size to 4". This will allow your engine to get the hot exhaust gases away from the turbo, and allow you to make more power.
4) Sonnax valve and Tricumulator springs, aftermarket tranny cooler- These will firm up the shifts in your tranny, and keep the tranny temps down.
5) Chip or tuner- Two schools of thought as to which is better. I prefer my Diablo Delta chip, since I have two optional programs to choose from, plus my stock program, and the choice is made by flipping a toggle switch. Others prefer the ease of installation of the tuner.
I hope this helps.

And a wish list that gets longer every day.
