problems with a'94 Effy
I'm running a box-stock 5.0L with an AODE (AOD with lockout on the end of the column shifter).
Anyway, I went to the local tranny shop where I have an acquaintance and slaped a $20 on him to hook my rig to their snap-on and read off the codes. the Key on Engine off test threw this out;
172 EGO Not Switching
Lean Exh. (Bank 1)
He wasn't up on his EFI, but he did assured me that it wasn't my tranny causing the problem (kind of knew that, but hey it's a tranny shop!!) He did say it may be the airflow sensor or the idle control valve.
If it helps any, since I got it, regularly it has a hard time starting unless you apply a little throttle ("a little" maybe a quarter of an inch, not much more if that much, "apply" push down and hold, no pumping involved).
I went online and started searching google, came out with mostly trash searches except one netted me this link:
http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/ar...ic/157991.html
that guy had a 4.9L and a rich exh. bank 1....oppsite what I'm getting.
That and the text I read in the posts lead me to here.
Also, the air sensor, is that a mass air flow or a speed density? Think someone told me it's the SD.
(my expertise lies closer to my 1984 Ranger we've owned since new, only had this truck for 4 years, waited till I paid it off to start anything and haven't got the $$ worked up yet).
Please let me know what you think might be wrong, I don't have a lot of $$ to try the swap till you get it right method.
thank you for your time in advance;

I will have a look at that and see if that is it. I hope they aren't too expencive. I need to figure out how to bend out the "C" frame about a half an inch where the "dog ear" that the radius arm connects too is bent up on one side (other side is the full part of the "C"). It looks like someone took and hung the right-front tire off a culvert or drainage ditch or something. I missed it on the lot....
anyway, thank you for your time and effort;
