How to bleed air suspension?

I'm trying to replace the air suspension with strutmasters coil springs. Their instructions say to bleed the air suspension; the Hanes Manual says to "depress the red plastic retaining ring and disconnect the air line from the solenoid valve." I found the red-ring on the top side of each airbag next to the electrical connection. How do I "depress it" ... or more to the point, How do I get that blasted airline off?

I'll call strutmasters in the morning to see if they have any tips.

A pair of side cutters on the line. We all have our opinions and I can't for the life of me understand why folks would rather remove than fix. Since you are dumping the system just cut the lines.

I cut...

I ended up cutting the lines. Even after I got the bags out to where I could see and handle the lines better... a little better ... I still could not get them to come out by pressing in the retaining ring and pulling.
Maybe if I had used some penetrating oil... but not sure that would be good for the lines IF I decided to go back to air suspension. Maybe one of these days I'll fix the air suspension and give it another whirl.

I did order an Air Suspension replacement from JCWhitney to try to replace hoses and compressor with their $200 Airlift kit. But it was more than I wanted to mess with at this point ... after I got it. May keep it and try that setup WITH the coil springs which is how they say it works.

Thanks for the reply and help!

You have to pop off the red plastic ring, and then push the brass retainer in towards the solenoid and pull hose out with a pair of pliers. Or just grab the hose firmly with pliers and pull like heck, and it will come out.
