Fuel Gauge Not Working

Tank was at 1/4. Filled it up, re-started engine, and it never moved at all. Now its stuck there.

The truck goes in to dealer next week for installation of vibration dampener and continued wrench light/limp mode troubles. I'd like to give them a heads up on the fuel gauge problem so they can get parts ordered. Anyone else had this problem? What was the fix?

Mine did that once when I left the key in the ON position during fill up. It did eventually go to full but it took awhile....several miles. I think I've read that other people have experienced this.

Key was off. And I tried restarting it several times, which cycled the key off and on. Drove it 75 miles today after fill up and it's still stuck on 1/4.

A ford employee on another forum addressed this problem.
Ford engeering issued a statement whitch says that even leaving the key in the ignition will cause the fuel gauge to not respond. It may take several starts to clear the problem. They did not say there was going to be a fix for this.
Remove the key for several minutes and then try again. The key in the ign keeps the dash powered up for several minutes after turning it off.

Ah...kinda like how it leaves the radio active for the wife while you're pumping gas or whatever? Odd though that turning off and on won't reset it. I'd be tempted to remove the battery cable for a few minutes to clear it.

Third day now, still stuck on 1/4. The key's been in and out many times and lost count of how many times it's been started.

Something's wrong when we have to start taking the key out of the ignition, disconnecting battery cables, and keep starting the vehicle over and over trying to get it to work....and it still won't work. I'll keep you posted.

In your message center did the miles to empty change when you filled it up? I wonder if the float is stuck in the tank or is it a computer issue??

Good idea ATCS, but I don't have the message center. My XLT just has the mini-message center with miles, temp, etc., and it's working ok. So no miles to empty. I'm wondering if it's an electrical/computer problem, as I'm plagued with the limp mode/wrench light problem. Don't know if it's tied in with that or not. Thanks.
