I have a 2000 V10 Crew Cab with an aux trans cooler installed. Do I need to worry about the trans temp being too cool in the winter months? If so how do I remedy this?
Should I try an cover the trans cooler in the winter or is there some kind of by-pass set up available?
Any help would be appreciated.
By the way it has the automatic trans.
Thanks
Not to worry. The fluid goes from the transmission to the aux cooler, to the radiator, and then back to the transmission. If the aux transmission cooler gets it too cool, the radiator will heat it back up.
The correct flow from the factory is to the radiator, then the aux cooler, then back to the transmission.
The part in the radiator is a COOLER, not a warmer. It will NEVER warm the transmission fluid. The COOLER is on the cold side of the radiator, which in very cold weather stays right around outside temperature.
The transmission with your V10 has a bypass that doesn't allow fluid to go to the cooler when it's too cold, so you don't have to worry about the fluid getting too cold.
