Ok to run without oil dipstick tube?

So I switched out my old timing chain on my '72 429 with the front sump oil pan and I also installed a new timing cover as well. the new cover did not come with the dipstick tube though. Am I going to be run the motor without the tube in there for now? I was thinking I could just put a plug in for now. I can't remember what was all on the back side of the cover and i dont want anything mixing that shouldn't be mixing. Thanks in advance!!

the rear sump pans have the dipstick out the side so I would say it doesnt matter.

As long as you know it is full, you would not need it. I have put a small core plug in the cover in place of the dipstick tubes on motors with rear sump pan that had the stick in the pan.

Perfectly fine to run without a tube.

You can get aftermarket tubes that mount to the side of the oil pan. Might be worth looking in to. Was going to do that on my truck because I ran into the same issue as you, but I'll be swapping back to a cover with a tube this winter.
