97 Expy Tranny?
Im gettin ready to drop the Tranny in my Expy. Because of shifting problems. Anyhow I have a few qustions. First of all im going to be trying to get quite a bit of low end torque out of it after its done. Any suggestions would be helpful on how to do this. Secondly is it a good or bad idea to put a stall converter in. If so how high? BTW its a 4R70 or something like that and the engine is a 4.6 with no mods.

with no mods keep the stock convertor, i usually change out the convefrtor if you have a bigger cam, so the motor can run. As for low end torque, remember there is no replacment for displacment, your kinda of limited here. A chip would not really help much on low end, maybe dual exhaust with a x-pipe would help, free flowing intake. Otherwise lower rear end gears would help power but loose gas milage.

We used to own a '97 Expy w/4.6. It was my wife's and she almost refused to drive it when I pulled the Superchip (due to high gas prices). In addition to being chipped, our 4WD Expy also had 285/75R16 tires, 4.10 gears and TRUE dual exhaust w/glasspacks. It ran very well. 
We never had any transmission work done, but since you're going to have yours out, might as well install a "shift kit".
