Cold Air Intakes, what are we paying for?

After installing my K&N cold air intake I started to wonder. What are we paying for with any cold air intake system. About $20.00 worth of parts and a filter. It sure sounds cool but why are the costs so high? IMO we sure don't get what we pay for.

I bought a KKM intake for $90, still a lot of money for a paper filter.

The item that cost the most is the filter, around 50 bux or so. They are way over priced. I wish I would have cut holes in the stock intake box, and put in a drop in K&N and saved some money.

Try www.wmsracing.com
Western motersports, they make intake systems for fords, using stock airfilters. Haven't tried one yet though.
