axle code confusion here

Hi all. I've done some searching and I can't find the specific info I need.

My brother has a 1999 F150 4X4 ORP ext cab. 5.4L it says on the door sticker that it has axle code 26. The sticker decoder here says that axle is 3.73 non LS but only lists that code as available in the F250. I'm fairly certain the axle ratio is 3.73 but I'd like to confirm if it is LS or not. He is the second owner and he has misplaced the original window sticker that came with the truck. He also says that when he jacks the truck and spins one of the rear wheels, the other turns the same direction. Is that indicative of LS.
Will the rear end tag specify if it's LS or not?
thanks!

Typically when you jack the rear and spin the tires, an open rear will have the opposite tire spin in the opposite direction, and a LS rear will spin in the same direction.

The rear end tag should say 3L73 for ls, or 3 37 for open, if I'm not mistaken (it will also tell you the gear ration if different than 3.73). This is all contingent on wether the original owner swapped in a Ls or not though.

Welcome to FTE!

What years does this list apply to? I have a list showing axle code 18 on 1966 through 1977 broncos are 3.50 like my 1972 is but i'm looking at a buddy's 1983 bronco and I swear it has a highway gear in it like the 3.08 you are talking about.

That list was specifically for 1999 F150-F250

Rumblefish-
When Ford went to an 8.8" rear in some old 9" apps they changed the code. I'm seeing an 18 is a 3.08 from '83 to now.
