Hello guys,
I recently bought a new lift for my truck, and just finished putting it on. As we all do when performing such tasks, I ran into a curveball or two, all were taken care of, but one really got me...
Factory rear blocks are supposed to be between 2 7/8" and 3 1/8". My blocks measured 4 1/4". I called Ford and had them check out the part number on the blocks and they were supposedly for '73-'79 F-100's and F-150's. My Skyjacker U-bolts werent even long enough, and Skyjacker said they dont carry one longer than what I have.
I ended up buying aftermarket blocks. Now, anyone got any idea what my old stock blocks are for, and why the extra inch?
Maybe post a pic. If it doesn't have the bumpstop arm, I doubt it is a ford block. Sorry I can't be more help, but you are right, normally they are roughly 3" blocks. If you still want to pursue the U-bolt thing, try a spring shop in your area. I know that here, Boise Spring Works will give (or make) about anything you want. I was stumped on where to get new centering pins, and the not only had them, but about a bazillion other things too. I am sure all spring shops are about the same, in that regard. Ted
