I have a 250 CC 4x4 V10 on order. I am debating changing it to a F350 to get 1100 lbs. more GVW.
Does anyone know if a F350's ride is noticeably stiffer than a F250?
I dont remember the price difference between the 250 and 350, but I have all of the stock leaf springs and hardware from my 2001 F350 Powerstroke, that was removed when the truck only had 430 miles on it. I upgraded to go with my lift, so if someone in Southern California wanted to upgrade thier F250 suspension to the 1 ton leafs, I have mine for sale.. I'll probably put them up for auction on eBay, but it might be an option for someone that already owns a 250. I say Southern California, because these suckers are heavy... if anyone is interested, email me at dubbers@brawleyonline.com
It should be unless Ford has changed something the 250's come with twin I beam front suspension (more give, smoother ride) the 350's come with the dana 60 which is a solid front axle (no give but a tough *******) the 350's also have a stiffer front suspension. The back has more springs but they might be set up in a overload dormat. Thats where the three extra springs don't provide resistance untill you alread have XXX lbs in the bed. The 350 is the WORK truck. It'll do anything but you'll pay for it with the ride. The 250 will do most things, and you get a smoother ride.

For what it is worth: I just purchased an F350. I have been looking and driving trucks for the last 4 weeks. At one point I had dealt with the local ford dealer on one of three trucks. Two were F250s and one was an F350. I felt that the ride was better in the F350, but hell I'm a man buying a man's truck. I didn't tell the wife which I prefered (I figured she would like the F250 Lariat with the leather) Turns out she wanted me to get the one ton. It rode better.
Turns out the Dealer and us couldn't reach an agreement. This last weekend I ended getting an F350 Dually Lariat with the captains chairs. My wife thinks this rides better than the Eddie Bauer Expedition we just traded in. We are quite happy.
The F350 seems quieter than the others too. With the Powerstoke it was quite easy to tell.
When ford came out with the new superduty in late 1998 for the 1999 model year, the 3/4 ton and 1 tons both had solid axles and still do. I believe the F-250 has a solid Dana 50 and the F-350 has a solid Dana 60. I am intested in the rides of the old body style. I am just about done converting my 84 F-150 2wd to an 84 F-350 4wd with a Dana 60. I assume the ride is going to be especial ruff since it also has a 4inch lift on it. But what the heck it's now a real truck.
Most people seem to agree that there is little or no ride difference. Ride seems to be more dependent on wheel base and tire pressure than anything else. Based on this I changed my order from a 250 to a 350 yesterday. 1100 lbs more for $500 seems like a good investment.
