Squeaking front springs, other TSB ??'s...

I have been dealing with a squeak coming from the driver-front spring pack on my 99-1/2 SD since I bought it. I have posted a few messages on this, all with the response of bushings being blamed. However, on the link to the Recalls/TSBs, I found a TSB on this subject. Does anyone have information on this, and or how do I procede once I have the Service Bulletin number? My local dealer says the number does not correspond with anything from FoMoCo. What gives, and how do I get my truck fixed??!! Thanks in advance.

Squeaking front springs, other TSB ??'s...

There are actually a few TSB's on the problem. There are two for the spring tips isulators and a couple more for the sway bar. Both TSB's for the spring tip isulators are the same but, they have a new part number for them. Apparently the ones they tried in the first TSB didn't work and I've heard some people say the newest ones don't work either. If you look at the new trucks, they have redesigned the front springs. You might want to just take the service advisor out to the lot and see if you can convince him to get the new springs since they can't fix it. If that doesn't work, you can try for the spring tip isulators and here's the TSB:

99/2000 Front Spring Squeak Update:
Ford has revised the front spring insulators again because this problem has returned even after installing the insulators listed in TSB #99-16-3. The procedures listed in this TSB can still be followed, only using part number YC3Z-5586-AA instead of those listed in the TSB. Four insulators are required. Broadcast Message 9185.

Just in case it's your sway bar, here's the TSBs on that too:

2000 F-250/350 Sway Bar Noise:
Trucks equipped with the camper package built at the Cuautitalan, Mexico truck plant between 12-15-99 to 4-19-00 may have had incorrect front sway bar bushings installed. This will result in a noise when executing U-turns or driving over bumps. If the sway bar is 30 mm (1 3/16") in diameter, the correct part number is F81Z-5484-GA. Part number F81Z-5484-HA is for 34 mm (1 11/32") diameter sway bars. Broacast Message #8793.

99/99.5 F-Series Sway Bar Breaks off Right Side of Front Axle:
The bracket welded to the right side of the front axle may break off due to stress. The fix is to cut the old bracket off and install one which is positioned higher on the axle. This also requires a revised left side spring cap and sway bar. Replace all hardware and both insulators.
TSB #00-1-6.
Unrelated to the sway bar bracket breaking is problems with the frame braket breaking at the top of the sway bar link. There is a cast bracket available to correct this, P/N F81Z-5C495-BH. OR, to correct this and the problem of the link bushings shifting off center and contacting the bracket or sway bar, model/year 2000 links (P/N YC3Z-5K483-AB and -AC) and brackets (YC3Z-5C495-AA) with attaching hardware may be installed.

Thanks for the info, I will definetly take that to my dealer! How did you get the actual TSB number though, and the quotes on what the issue exactly is?? Is that consumer available information or what? There are a couple of others I would like to check on if possible, concerning "...lack of power on acceleration on some 5.4L and 6.8L vehicles." I don't think my V-10 is nearly as peppy as my co-workers (same year/model), and I happened to find this one listed on the NHTSA TSB webpage so I would really like to dig on this one. Thanks again!

I guess it just would have been easier to post the web site but, I just wasn't thinking. http://www.intellidog.com/dieselmann/bulletin.htm It's geared more for diesel super duties. You won't find any TSBs there for gas engines but, since they all have the same drivetrain and what not, you can still find plenty pertaining to your truck.

Let us know what the dealer decides to do. Like I said, you should try for the new designed springs. Especially if they're too lazy to even look for the TSB's on the problem.
