Red face Dana 60 with dana 44 shafts

Yesterday I pick up a front axle. # on housing are C36912 It has the 4 bolts ont the steering arm like my 79 dana 60s but the shafts are the same size and spline as a 44. The tube are the same diameter as the 79 60s. The left side is missing and I'am trying to find a place to buy new ones. I tried a new one out of a 44 and it was about 1" to long. No tag. It has the stabellizer for the old steering with 4 hoses. Disc brakes. 76 for a date on the ring gear. Anybody know where I can buy new axle shafts for this thing? Thanks Tim R.

8 lug or 5 lug??

If it's a 8 lug, it's from a F-250 highboy.
If it's a 5 lug, it's from a F-150 super cab.

edit: either way it's a 44

Question 44?

The housing is the same as my D60s in both my 79 and 69. the 69 one came out of a 79. Its not a 44 housing as I have several to compare to and several D60 front ends to compare to. Everything is the same as the D60s except the size of the axle shafts. Has any one ever ran into this before? The front cover bolts are 3/8 "where the front cover bolts on a 44 are 5/16". Thanks for any help. Tim R. I will clean it up tonight and can post pictures tommorow.

Lightbulb

I cleaned up the housing tonight and itt has 60F on it. I was thinking maybe someone used a D60 rear 30 spline center section. I found a axle shaft in my collection of old parts. Lots of D44 axle shafts and only one the right length. Thanks Tim R.

Unhappy

Thanks for the info. I will put it together today and get rid of it tommorow. The guy wants to back. He's going to pay for all parts and labor + return the 79 D44 I sold him out of a F250. Thanks again . Tim R.
