v10 gas mileage

Put it on Craigslist.
On another thread you were in asking about your trucks value I posted that a dealer offered me 23k for mine. But I have 47,000 miles not 100k+. People shy from buying a high mileage gas truck, for whatever reason. If you have a large dealer that just buys vehicles outright go to them see what they'll offer. Also depends what you owe on it.
If you're REALLY want it gone, list it for $1000 over what you owe. That way you have some wiggle room but will be able to pay it off. Again depends what you paid and mostly if you owe anything.

From my experience, no one wants a gas 3/4 anymore either lol. Everyones going to diesels
But in all honesty, what it all boils down to is finding that ONE guy who wants it. You could post that thing for sale all over the internet, ebay, craigslist, you name it, and not sell it. Then tell your neighbor about your misfortunes and him say, "O yea, Iv always liked your truck. Ill buy it!"

I have been showing 10 ish with my truck driving to and from work each day, 12 miles highway at 70 mph then about 4 miles through city usually with every red light to boot. it always returns over 10 mpg.
on freeway I have seen 15-16 with one tank full doing 69 mph the whole trip to keep the rpm under 2k.
mine is a 2000 v10 with 3.73 according to the vin decoder..

I just got 31 mpgs!!!!!!
With my beater commuter car.
Driving my truck to work everyday would just be an ungodly waste of money for me ($600+/month). I spend around $160/month and the car cost me $300 (yes that's what I paid for the entire car). Is my truck "cooler", sure. But I could care less. Plus being in the rust belt having the car keeps the trucks salt baths to a minimum. My truck does it's share of heavy hauling during the summer which is its purpose.
I'm not trying to be a jerk but those who buy the biggest truck on the block with the biggest gas motor offered then complain about its bad fuel economy....... What were you expecting? Especially a motor with 10 cylinders to feed.

Theres your reality check lol. But I agree, these V10s don't make the greatest daily driver... ask me how I know lol. $60 a week driving easy and ONLY to work is hard on the ol wallet. Would I trade it for a car? HELL NO! Would I drive a car as a commuter if it was cheap/free? Sure. But I enjoy my truck too much to watch it sit, so I just grin when I slide my debit card at the gas station and bear through it.
Maybe an ol 300 inline 6 would better suit ya. I came mighty close to buying one once because that 20mpg sounded aweful nice but I went with an IDI instead (still 16+ with 4.10s)

All my reading are per the lie-o-meter as I don't hand calculate much anymore. Seems it wasn't off by much when I did. I average about 13.9 mpg on average not towing. That's probably 80% highway. When towing our 12,860lb horse trailer with a hay rack on it which makes the trailer almost 12' tall I usually get about 8.6-8.8 mpg. Our most recent 2100 mile trip from MI to AZ I got a whopping 6.7 mpg but we had 40+ mph headwinds from Amarillo all the way to Flagstaff- not a fun trip! That was going about 65-70 mph. It's times like that I wish I had a diesel....

More MPG would be nice but with the wind/hills it was down shifting like crazy. Usually had to keep it 60-65 mph and follow a semi just to keep it from going into 3rd. cruise control was out of the question. I have 4.30 gears with a 5star tune so couldn't ask much more from the truck. Just didn't have the torque to do well with that kind of head wind and hills. Long bed dually would have helped as well but that's a whole other issue. Love the truck and the V10 and didn't want to go to a diesel but may not have a choice with the new trailer.

I just traded in my 2002 F350 CC 4x4 V10 4.30 gears with 169,000 miles. I was usually at between 7 to 10 around town and probably the best I ever saw was 14 or 15 on a highway trip. I love mashing the gas pedal so that didn't help my mileage at all. I ended up trading it in at the dealer as during the 6 weeks it took to get my new ordered 2014 F350 6.2L 4.30 gears I could not sell it unless I gave it away. I decided if I was going to give it away I would trade it in to wash my hands of it instead of a private sale and have to deal with that crap. It did have it's share of problems, mostly corrosion related from 12 winters of salt driving here in New Hampshire. I'm glad I can turn the traction control off on the new truck as that takes all the fun out of sliding around in the snow! The 2002 with the V10 was a blast to slide around. Will not miss the exhaust manifold related problems that's for sure!
