Just installed a new Aero Turbine muffler on my X. I'm not quite finished with all the hangers but I got close enough to fire it up. Holy Cow! It has a great sound at lower and mid rpm's and when you get on it, it sounds like an indy race car. Damn near blew my other car out of the garage. My kids came running out of the house, as did my neighbor. Every one had a good laugh with grins ear to ear. The consensus was two thumbs up! Can't wait to finish the install and put on my new air induction system up front and take this baby for a drive. I'm like a little kid at Christmas.
I am going to pull with my X. I have a trip coming up on April 8th, so I won't be able to tell you about it till then. From what I have heard It will pull a lot better, especially on the hills and canyons here in Utah.
I finished the install last night and took it for a ride. I really like the sound. It has a good mean bark on acceleration if you are getting on it. Soft acceleration is not too loud or obnoxious but it lets you know there is something there. I took it on the freeway and when you get up to speed it really quiets down. This muffler gives you a lot of high end. I took it out of OD to see what it would sound like since I tow out of overdrive. It was still quiet. I took it up to 85 and I was only 3200-3300 rpm's. I think the more air you are pushing through the exhaust the more the air foil action you got going in the muffler and the more dampening action you get. You can check out the website at www.aero-turbine.com I paid $194 for the 3030 version. Stainless steel lifetime warranty. That is not cheap but it is a lot less than a cat back system from everyone else I have seen. The V10 X has 3" pipes all the way pack so the 3030 just slipped right in. They make a 4040 for the Diesels.
They say that they are 50 states legal for sound. Muffler shops are carrying these mufflers also. I know that Midas in Utah carries them. They only quoted me $265 installed which is pretty cheap. Their website will tell you dealers in your area.
Sounds clips, including a 7.3 PSD, are available on the web site. I really like the exhaust note -- not too loud but smooth. Now I just gotta figure out how to get this past my darling wife!

Update: We have recorded my X with the aero turbine muffler. Hopefully I will have it up for all to hear by April 1 as soon as I get the edited mp3 back from my buddy.
Ok, here we go folks. I have it up on my work's ftp server. Don't know how long it will last so feel free to copy it and put it somewhere better.
Go to: ftp://ftp.mkgold.com/outgoing/
and click on the file: V10XAeroturbine.mp3 Turn it up!
