Post 97 Explorer with control trac????

We just picked up a 97' Explorer with the 4.0 V-6 OHV motor and it has the Control Track All Wheel drive system on it. I know that the OHC engine can sometimes have some real issues according to a few of the posts that I have read on the board so I am glad to have the OHV 4.0. Next question is has anyone had any problems with the Control Track system on theirs???? I have seen many Explorers on the road and have not seen many with the control track. Is this a unique option on this year and if so is it a desirable one or are we in for a world of problems with it???? Thanks in advance for any input you may have.

This is a good time to change the fluid in it. Rear seal has a tendency to leak but is easy enough to replace. If fluid gets low, it tends to grab at low speed. I like the 4405 because you can insert a switch in brown clutch wire and take it out of auto 4WD. 2WD LOW can be handy and some say 2WD HI has better economy. Other than the normal chain stretch that they all have, this one has a tendency to wear out the rear bearing housing. Rear shaft will have up down play. Check this if you ever have rear seal leaking. Transmission must be in neutral to do this.
