How about watching E.T. in the movie theater?

I remember seeing Drew Barrymore for the first time in that movie. I think we're the same age.

patuca,

Where did you grow up in PA? Anyhoo, I read this and just about died. The only thing is I still wear the old Chuck Taylor All Stars. In the words of Johnny Knoxville "That's one damn fine piece of footwear."

I can't believe no one mentioned thinking MacGyver was cool, oh well maybe it was just me. I too never missed Saved by the Bell. Who didn't want to be Zack and date Kelly or vice versa? We won't even get into the shock of seeing Showgirls...

MacGyver ruled! (Quick: what was his first name on the show?)

How about the hair? The 80s and AquaNet were solely responsible for the hole in the ozone layer.

Remember the big-hair bands on MTV (when they actually played videos) when all the videos were the same? Some spandex-wearing band singing right into the camera while grinning and grimacing and hitting high notes that made small animals whimper? Speaking of, how about Friday Night Videos, and begging your parents to let you stay up to watch it?

Remember when everyone at every school dance paired off for Journey and Air Supply ballads? And sang along?

Anyone else have a Chevette? An Atari 2600? Iron-on Tshirts? Tiger Beat magazine? Dungeons & Dragons?

Somebody help, I'm doing the time warp again...

New kids on the block were cool?

Gag me with a spoon!!!!!

I'm sure glad I was in the dork crowd then. I disliked new kids just as much as milli vanilli.

No mention of TIFFANY, DEBBIE GIBSON or LITA FORD
I have plenty of "fond memories" of them.

Night riders car was named kit.

What about the tv show airwolf

Lets not forget the Space Shuttle Challeger. I remember watching it take off on TV while in school. The district thought it would be cool to have the whole school watch it as a educational experience. If they only knew what was bound to happen.

K.I.T.T. actually, but you're right!

I was home sick, watching the shuttle on TV when it exploded, I saved all the local papers about it.

True 80s-ism: I was in Hands Across America on the California end. I think my arms were 3 feet long when it was over.

Airwolf was good, I liked Tales of the Brass Monkey too.

Someone mentioned CHiPs, the A-Team and MacGyver.

I'll be the first to mention Hawaii 5-0. I'm sure they were re-runs when I was a kid, but I used to watch that show with my grandfather. Ah, the memories.

Book 'em, Danno!

Andre the Giant

When wrestling was real

When cars were dangerous & sex was safe

And I just remembered why the school made us watch the Challeger lift off, it was becaue there was a school teacher on it.
