Doh! I just wasn't thinking ... had "Lariat" stuck in my mind. You are correct in that the Audiophile is NOT an option on the XLT model. It is only available on STX, FX4, and Lariat.

Hmm, well, you could always change your order to a Lariat.

Good luck.

Ambiance Setting

What exactly is the "Ambiance" setting and how do you adjust it?

I have the audiophile system in my Lariat and absolutely love it.This was one of the biggest reasons why I went with the Lariat.I thought my Lincoln and a Limited Explorer w/JBL had the best stock systems but I was wrong after I heard my audiophile system. It is definately worth the extra money.I think it is a bargain.Good Luck!

Someone who has the Audiophile, could you please post the dollar amount, if listed, that the sticker says it adds to the price?
I know it may only be included in a 'package' but I am curious if it is listed separately what it sells for. I am told it includes the
Head-unit,
Subwoofer
tweeters
different speakers
wheel controls.
Anyone still have their window sticker?
Thanks
Chris

If I remember correctly the audiophile system option was $250-$296 on the sticker. The 6 disc CD was another $250-$296.I hope this helps.

6-CD Upgrade is $300 MSRP
Audiophile is an additional $250 MSRP (requires the 6-CD upgrade)

FYI, the cassette/CD dual-media upgrade is $125 MSRP, not that anyone would want that!

You know, I do see posts from guys that want that cassette option. I think it's people that have a lot of audio books, etc.

So if I am understanding this, it costs on the close order of 550 bucks more for a 6 changer with Audiophile options over a single CD/radio?
That seems a bit pricey, or am I wrong on the amount?
Thanks
Chris

Yes, MSRP from Single-CD to Audiophile is $550. Certainly enough to give some people pause, but when you consider the sub itself would cost $230 (Q-Logic 10", fits under the rear seat (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-TphcwDO...50&I=044CFTX01) and if you work from invoice ($468) it's actually a pretty good upgrade at a price you couldn't match aftermarket without spending more money, even if you self-install.

Of course, for some, putting in the best system possible with a much-bigger budget is more important. That's the 10% of the market I referred to before.

I have the audiophile and although the Monssoon system in my wife's Camaro sounds better, I love it. I thought that it was worth the money not to have to cut all up.

While scanning the forum tonight the audiophile threads caught my eye. I ordered an 06 Expedition today. I wanted an Eddie Bauer but did not want leather so I ordered an XLT. I would have loved to order the audiophile system because the standard six disc is just ok at best. Not on the option list for XLT. I have an 03 Expedition now and upgraded the speakers with Polks from crutchfield. They did not make much of a difference.

I wish that Ford would let you order the better stereos, nicer wheels etc. I saw earlier in the thread that the audiophile is available in the SXT, a nice but lower priced truck. It is beyond me why these easy factory options are not on the order sheet on a 43,000.00 vehicle.
