Lariat DVD Question
I'm interested in purchasing the new Lariat, my dealer says that the DVD will not be available untill next year. Is this true? If not, when will the DVD entertainment packages be available in the new 2004 Lariat?
I'm assuming the DVD package will eliminate the chances of getting a sun roof?
Please correct me if i'm wrong.

Not sure if the DVD is available or you have to wait to next year, but if you have the factory DVD system it will not give you the option of a Sunroof. The reason for this is if you have a sunroof the DVD monitor that usually mount from the headliner will be too far back to view comfortably
I didn't ask my dealer when I purchased mine because I wanted the sunroof and I am going to install 7" wide screen monitors in the headrests.

The DVD option is available in a factory install (Ordered unit 2004) now. The are suppose to come out with an add on for the rail system in 05, I don't know if that will work with the 04's or not.
If you want it now, have to have it installed when you order it or go aftermarket.
And say by by to the moonroof when you do !

You can currently get the DVD in the 2004's you don't have to wait. I ordered the DVD system in the Lariat and have a build date of March 22nd.
You cann't get the sun roof with the DVD system!!

The dvd player was available when I ordered mine. I chose the moonroof over the dvd. Hell the kids should at least get some filtered sun light. If we want to see the world we get in my truck, if we want to watch a movie, we stay home. That's just me though.

BMWhitesel-There is a company that prefits the monitors in the headrests and it replaces the current headrests. If they are the same or at least look good then I'll go with that one, If not time to start cutting my headrests to mount one. my neighboor has his own business for aftermarket Audio, Video, Sunroofs ect. I'm going to see what he can get for me. When I find out I'll email you. I think we can email each other but, I haven't figured it out yet. If anyone known please respond thanks.

the choice you are forced to make is really.... sunroof, or Rail system. (which can include DVD if ordered)
you have four choices.
1) 04 with dvd factory order (available)
2) 04 without, and then a soon to be coming harness and dvd from the accessories catelog ( but i don't know how much more it will cost, and you will have to have the rail system, and pull the headliner to install the harness) #1 is cheaper and easier if you have not yet ordered a truck
3) 05 with dvd
4) 05 with (prewire kit option selected on order) this gets wire harness installed, but not dvd. then order dvd from acccessories
in all cases, you will need the rail system, and thus not the moonroof.
by the way, just got back from a trip to northern michigan with the kids. had them listening to and watching ***** wonka using wireless headphones, while we listened to my sat radio through the aux input on the dvd. it is an integrated system.
keep in mind, I am a little biased..... as I am part of the team
( Ford's supplier) that develop the rail system with DVD.
