Test drove a 00 350 Lariat dually SC 4X4 stick with 20K miles. Had it checked out and found the following: 1. Trubo piping leak (soot) in the area of the timing cover forward curb side of engine 2. Turbo piping flange leak (soot) on the drivers side of engine just aft of the water pump 3. Wet area, rear of engine, back of head up top 4. Drivers side forward wheel well seems wet, may be a power steering unit leak. Truck runs and looks like new, very powerfull engine, never owned a diesel. I have to make a decision on purchase by Friday!. Question-Are these minor leaks normal for a diesel with just 20K miles?? Dealer says they are all covered by warranty and will address them but I'm a little concerned. Need input from HD Diesel drivers!!
Sounds like minor stuff. Make them fix it first! At 20k you still have 16k or about 1.5 years worth left on the warrenty (depending on your driving habits).
Thanks Rob, I assume they're minor problems and was curious if anyone else was seeing this. I'm just getting accustomed to the fact that I'm putting out big bucks and don't want to wind up with a lemon!
