Hey guys thanks for coming here, this is more or less a problem that I found with the transmission cooling system. I have a 90 f-150 with an E4Od transmission, when i would drive it for long periods it would seem to leak tranny fluid out of the front seal. I took it to a well known transmission shop and they said i needed a front tranny seal($500), so I decided to do some research, since a rebuilt tranny was a little over $1700. I contacted an ex-FORD tech who started his own tranny rebuilding shop, I told him my symptoms, he then stated that i had a radiator that was possibly going bad, i nearly laughed, but he was right. I bought a new radiator, and it fixed the problem, apparently the tranny cooling part of the radiator went bad and not the engine cooling pard, I saved myself a lot of money, so do take this into consideration, i was skeptical as well, and I know this is probly a rare case, but it worked.

Good info - wonder what the name of the "well known" shop was ... $500 for a front seal? Man they were set to hose you on that repair.
If you did need a front seal, it's all of about $5, but of course the tranny needs to be pulled back and the converter pulled out. But still, for a shop that's set up to do this $500 is several times TOO MUCH!!
