engine swap 223 to 292
I've got a 1960 ford f-100 with a 223ci six. I want to swap a 292 8 into it. I've seen a 292, and it has what I think is the front engine mount on it ,( black plate coming off the front under the crank pulley), and a transmission mount too. Would I have to modify the frame on this truck or get additional mounting parts to install this engine?

Front crossmember is the same 223 or 292 so all you need is the mount which is in 2 parts.
Trucks require the truck bellhousing and you will have to move and either modify or replace the radiator. Easier to just get a complete radiator/support assembly out of a donor, they are the same on little and big trucks.

Carl knows this stuff really well, but I'll elaborate. To mount a Y-block in your truck, you'll need; a truck front timing cover on the engine, it has bolt holes for a front engine mount; the front engine mount, and the rubber isolators and the bolts; the correct truck-y-block bellhousing, and bolts.
If you need a casting number for the bellhousing, tell us which transmission you're using and I'll look through my stash to see what it will be. Transmissions include t-98 4 speed, t-85 and t-86 3 speed, and automatic.
The existing transmission (bellhousing) mount points on your truck will work with the y-block.
You may want a truck water pump, and thermostat housing, too.

RE: 223 to 292
I have a 292 and a 4 speed from a 60 F100 that is in my truck...coming out to make room for the 351W and C6, if you need parts or the whole thing let me know, My frame is getting chopped as well to make room for the Monte front clip so motor mounts and all will be pulled, My first truck had the 6 in it and it was pulled to insert the olds 455....Gas hog.
custom motor mounts were made for that install
